Hello everyone!! I'm so sorry it has been so long since my last blog post, but real life caught up to me and I have been busy, busy, busy!! Unfortunately, I haven't had any Disneyland trips planned and no new contests to report on at the moment, so I guess you could say news has been slow!!
This post is just so I can show off an anniversary present that my hubby bought for me!! What should arrive in the mail this week but a Disneyland Diamond Celebration Princess Aurora doll!!
This post is just so I can show off an anniversary present that my hubby bought for me!! What should arrive in the mail this week but a Disneyland Diamond Celebration Princess Aurora doll!!
Pictures truly don't do her justice, but I'm uploading a few anyway!! What I loved about her is that she is dressed in blue!! You always see Princess Aurora in Pink, although she spends most of the time in Sleeping Beauty in her blue dress!! What's up with that?? Well, it's because Cinderella's dress is blue and Disney doesn't want them to "compete" with each other!! Cinderella came out in 1950 and Sleeping Beauty didn't come out until 1959, so Cinderella claimed her spot as the "Blue Princess" first!!
But, for Disneyland's 60th birthday, this doll was designed to match her castle!! Since Sleeping Beauty's Castle was decked out in extra sparkly blue and diamonds galore, so too is this Aurora doll!! The back of the box explains:

Some of you may also be doing the math right now, that if Sleeping Beauty didn't come out until 1959, how is it that Disneyland's castle, which opened with the park in 1955, could be Sleeping Beauty's Castle?? Well, Walt Disney and his animators were already hard at work for the Sleeping Beauty movie and since she was destined to be the next Disney Princess, so her Castle was built!! Even more interesting is that the Sleeping Beauty's Castle walkthrough was opened in 1957, still two years before the movie came out!! This walk through was developed using the concept art from the movie and has changed over the years to include scenes from the actual movie and to incorporate more technologies to be the walk through that we all know today!!
The details on this doll are exquisite!! I wish I could show more pictures, but I'm not a professional photographer and her box unfortunately produces a lot of glare!! My favorite detail is the Disneyland Diamond D that is included on her necklace and her tiara!! And I can't say that I've ever been more jealous of a doll's eyelashes!! Her dress truly does sparkle too!! She is a Limited Edition of 3,000. We will be at the Disneyland resort next month, but I was afraid she would sell out before then, so the hubby made the right choice in ordering her just in case!!
I would like to give a special thanks to the personal shopper that we used, Shopping with Pixie Dust!! Not only did my doll arrive safe and sound, but she was also kind enough to include a map from the official Disneyland 60th Birthday!! I did not request this item and love that it was an added bit of Pixie Dust that she didn't have to include, but did!! I LOVE it when people spread the Disney magic!! So if you aren't a local and need someone to pick something up for you from the Disneyland Resort, Shopping with Pixie Dust should be your first choice!!
I would also like to thank The Disney Project for his Sleeping Beauty trivia session that he gave on Periscope for all the information I shared regarding Disneyland's Castle!! You can follow him on Twitter and Periscope @DisneyProject!!
